It is high time that Tony Crombie’s rock & roll material was released on CD!
Perhaps it has and I have not seen it. I have very few records of Tony Crombie & his Rockets and I’ve been “introducing” them to friends in Texas, many of whom have never heard of this band. Which makes me wonder just how much really good music like this is still out there waiting to be re-released on CD to a public that had no idea that music like this ever existed.
Tony Crombie was my father, and it is always pleasing to see that he hasn’t been forgotten. I do agree with you - there is a lot of material out there that should be put on to CD. I don’t know if you are aware that Tony was first and foremost a great jazz drummer, one of the finest in the world. He was also a renowned composer and had music he had written recorded by the likes of Miles Davis, amongst others.
We all miss him a great deal, especially my son, who is also a drummer and composer.
There was a bootleg double cd a few years ago which contained all the rock and roll output of Tony Crombie, along with some Art Baxter and Don Lang material. It was entitled “Rock You Sinners” which was the title of the film that the above clip comes from.
